The Clinical Microscopy Laboratory performs scientific analysis of non-blood body fluids such as urine, semen and stool.



Many illnesses and disorders affect how your body removes waste and toxins. The system that takes care of that includes your lungs, kidneys, urinary tract, skin, and bladder. Problems with any of these parts of your body can affect the appearance, concentration, and content of your urine.

MODEL RELEASED. Urine analysis. General practice doctor placing a multiple test stick (Multistix) into a urine sample. The test stick will be immersed in the sample for a specific amount of time. It will then be removed and the test stick’s pads checked against a reference chart. Each pad tests for the presence (colour change) and/or quantity (colour intensity) of blood (haematuria), protein (kidney disease) and glucose (diabetes), and for urinary tract infections and cystitis (inflammation of the bladder).

Semen analysis is very important in evaluating fertility cases and status of post vasectomy cases.

Stool Exam

Analysis of stool samples such as fecalysis, stool concentration technique, occult blood determination and stool examination for fats help clinician in early detection of gastro-intestinal bleeding, liver and biliary duct disorders and malabsorption syndrome.
